![]() < Return to Contents 4.c - Email GuidelinesOne of the most common ways you will communicate with Instructors and students in an online course will be via e-mail. All NSU Students, Faculty, and Staff automatically have an NSU email address in the form of: <yourusername>@nsuok.edu If you have not already obtained your NSU Username, please review "Section 1.a - Obtaining a Username and Password" of this student guide to learn how to obtain your NSU Username and Password. Many students and faculty will also have their own personal email address outside of NSU. One of the first decisions a student will need to make involves selecting which email address(es) to use for communicating in online courses at NSU. Some instructors may allow any form of email address (either NSU or an outside email address), while other instructors may enforce specific policies as to which email address students should use in their course(s). Students should carefully read each Instructor's syllabus for the online course(s) and find out any specific email guidelines that the Instructor(s) may have concerning which type of email address you can use in an online course. Guidelines for email addresses are dictated by Instructors for their respective courses and are not dictated by any official University Policy. Therefore, it is the responsibility of the student to learn the Instructor's direction as to which email address to use for communicating in an online course at NSU! Regardless of which email address policy a course assumes, students should always consider etiquette when writing and submitting email to instructors and students in an online course. Using profane or otherwise abusive language in an email can have a negative impact on the student's standing in the course as well as the University, and can even possibly bring about disciplinary action against the student. |
