3.a - Home Page Layout

The following screen shows the general layout of the home page in NSU Blackboard (also known as the "NSU Blackboard" page. This is the first screen after you login to NSU Blackboard every time. Or, you can access this screen anytime by clicking on the "NSU Blackboard" Tab at the top of any screen in Blackboard.

  • Home/Help/Logout
    • These three buttons allow you to quickly navigate to Home (www.nsuok.edu), Open Help (this guide), or Logout of Blackboard. When you are finished using Blackboard from a public computer (such as a computer lab PC, library PC, work PC, etc.) you should always click on "Logout".
  • Tools
    • The tools area includes quick links to student tools that allow you to view and update information about your:
    • Announcements
    • Calendar
    • Tasks
    • Grades
    • Send Email
    • Blackboard User Directory
    • Address Book
    • and Personal Information
  • My Announcements
    • This area shows important announcements from instructors in the various classes you are enrolled in through Blackboard. Many instructors use this feature to inform students about upcoming tests, quizzes, assignment due dates, etc. Check this area often when starting Blackboard to quickly keep up to date on your classes
  • Report Card
    • The Report Card shows you a quick glance at where you stand in each of your classes. It summarizes the points you have earned in each of the courses to date. Please note that this score should not be confused with your ACTUAL FINAL grade that you will receive in the class! This is only a reference of your online progress, and your final score for the course may involve other points earned. You should consult your instructor with any questions about your grade in your courses.
  • My Courses
    • This area shows you which courses you are currently enrolled in (as well as possibly courses from previous semesters that have not been removed from the system yet). Each course will also show the most recent two announcements posted for the course(s). If you click on a course title, you will be taken directly to the course you clicked on.
  • My Calendar
    • The Calendar shows you upcoming events, assignments, and other scheduled activities that either you or your instructors have posted on course and personal calendars in Blackboard. Remember, not all instructors use the Calendar, but you can add your own personal reminders, activities, and due dates to your calendar, and they will show up on this screen.
